This workshop will help you understand and apply sewing techniques and finishes that are relevant to your chosen pattern – sewing your item as you go.
Identify and know how to sew different stitches for different processes in your chosen pattern. Learn about ways in which patterns use common techniques to mould and shape the fabric around the body – and apply these in the construction of your item.
Build your knowledge of how to use different presser-feet on your machine and how to sew special stitches for fastenings, seam finishes and features.
If you’re confident enough to take on cutting out and transferring pattern markings at home you can join this workshop and have support to get you over the line with final making up.
Alternatively, you may choose to add this course as a follow-on from either or both of our other two sewing pattern workshops.

Creativity is good for you. It has a positive impact on both physical and mental health. It's this aspect of what we do that makes us a great choice because we think carefully about this when we design our course content.
We teach as a team and keep our group sizes limited to ensure that we are able to give everyone as much of our input as possible and allow people to go at their own pace. This varies, depending on the setting and we're known for being able to set the pitch appropriate to the group we're teaching. We have the right DBS checks in place with policies and risk assessments that allow us to teach children and vulnerable adults.
You'll have access to a range of equipment as part of the course fee, and we always give clear instructions regarding additional materials that participants will need to bring. We own a number of Singer Heavy Duty sewing machines but we welcome people using their own machines if they would prefer.
Join us for one of our bookable sessions, or contact us for something at a location of your choice and/or specifically tailored to your needs!
